US Southern Command - ALERT

This page provides updates and reporting guidance for SOUTHCOM Headquarters personnel during hurricanes and other emergency situations.  New guidance is below. 

Latest Guidance (issued Aug. 26, 2012)

From HQ SOUTHCOM Joint Operations Center:  Due to severe weather conditions, only mission essential personnel report as directed on Monday 27 Aug. Directorates and offices will make mission essential personnel determination.  The gym, clinic, Child Development Center (CDC) and all AAFES concessions will be closed 27 Aug.  HQ SOUTHCOM/US Army Garrison-M will return to normal operations on Tuesday 28 Aug 12. All personnel are advised to use caution to avoid flooded streets and downed power-lines. Contact your supervisor with questions.

For civilian timecard purposes, administrative leave, code LN (no charge to personal leave) will be coded beginning at 0001 hours through the normal tour of duty for Monday, 27 August 2012, for those civilian employees who are released or are not required to report due to the weather.  Any civilian on pre-scheduled annual leave for Monday, 27 August 2012, will not be charged leave for that day and will also be placed on administrative leave.

Administrative Leave is an authorized absence, without loss of pay and without charge to the employee's leave. Administrative leave is granted to employees for reasons determined to be in the Government's interest.   Questions may be referred to the J14 Civilian Personnel Team, 305 437-1120;  x3558; x1278.

For reporting instructions, contact the Hurricane Hotline at COM: 305-437-3919.  The Hurricane Hotline will ONLY be updated when guidance from SOUTHCOM Chief of Staff changes. You can also get the latest guidance and alerts (via the AtHoc notification and accountability system) by logging on to your Webmail (CAC Access).  The alerts are also sent to your personal email and mobile devices (if you signed up for them in SCEMS). Also, local media outlets may provide additional SOUTHCOM guidance if conditions warrant.
