CARTER ANNOUNCES FLAT VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT GRANT

Washington, DC, Dec 13, 2006 - U.S. Congressman John Carter (TX-31) today announced that the Flat Volunteer Fire Department near Gatesville has been awarded a grant for $204,250 from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. The funding will allow the department to acquire additional firefighting vehicles.

“I commend the men and women firefighters who volunteer their time and talent to protect their community,” Congressman Carter said. “The $204,250 in federal funding will give the Flat Volunteer Fire Department the additional resources needed to better serve the people of Coryell County.”
