Cancer of Female Reproductive Organs (Screening)


To screen for cancer of female reproductive organs, TRICARE covers the following:

Physical Examination
Pelvic examination should be performed in conjuction with Pap smear testing for cervical neoplasms and premalignant lesions.

Pap Smears
Pap smear testing is covered for women 18 years of age or older. The frequency of Pap smear testing may be at the discretion of the patient and clinician, but not less frequently than every three years.

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) Testing
HPV DNA testing is covered as a cervical cancer screening only when performed in conjunction with a Pap smear, and only for women aged 30 and older.
