Description
LPV-146 - Chalmette Loop Levee - Bayou Dupre to Hwy 46 Floodwall
Construct pile-founded T-wall on top of existing levee to 100 yr elevation and emergency bypass ramp for Highway 46.
This reach is approximately 39,966 ft long. The work in this reach consisted of a new reinforced concrete T-wall supported by steel H-piles to be built on the existing levee. The existing levee was slightly degraded in order to drive H-piles, drive steel sheet pile for seepage cut-off, and place a stone pad for placement of concrete footing. The existing earthen levee ranges in elevation 17.5 to 21.5. The floodwall was constructed to elevation 31.5 for future (2057/2060) conditions. An emergency bypass ramp for Highway 46 was constructed parallel to the highway for evacuation purposes. In addition, 4 earthen ramps and gates were constructed for wildlife passage from the flood to protected side. Early Contractor Involvement (construction) was used as the contract mechanism on this reach.
