WBV-14c.1 - New Westwego Pump Station to Orleans Village - 3rd Enlgt - Phase 1
Already built to authorized level of protection, but settled. Restore to authorized level of protection.
This contract involves the construction of a third enlargement or lift on approximately 3.5 miles of existing earthen levee that has experienced excessive settlement. This restoration will raise the levee to the authorized elevation east of the New Westwego Pumping Station to a point on the levee approximately 1 mile east of the Westminster Pumping Station in Jefferson Parish. A geotechnical evaluation of the sections where settlement occurred will be done to determine the need to install sheet pile rather than construct an earthen levee.
WBV-14c.2 - New Westwego Pump Station to Orleans Village - Phase 2
Build to 100 yr level of protection.
This contract involves raising the elevation of approximately 3.5 miles of existing earthen levee to the 100-year level of protection. This is the same levee segment that was restored during Phase 1 activities. This earthen levee has a 10 foot wide crown with a design elevation of +13.5 to +14 NAVD88 (100 yr level of protection elevation) and 1 vertical on 4 horizontal side slopes. At present the crown of this levee reach is approximately 4 feet below design grade on average. Construction will also include the installation of new floodwalls tying into the Westminster Pumping Station. These levee improvements will occur east of the New Westwego Pump Station to a point on the levee approximately 1 mile east of the Westminster Pump Station in Jefferson Parish.
