JAMES R. KNODELL

  • James R. Knodell, Assistant Director, LE, PFPA
    James R. Knodell is the Assistant Director, Law Enforcement, for the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA).
    Mr. Knodell has more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement and security, more than 26 of those years in the Federal government working with the United States Secret Service and the Executive Office of the President prior to his appointment to PFPA in April of 2007.
    Mr. Knodell was the Director of the PFPA Criminal Investigative and Protective Directorate (CIPD) from April 2007 to August 2009. CIPD is comprised of three divisions, Criminal Investigations, Protective Services and Operations.
    From 2004 until 2007, Mr. Knodell was the Chief Security Officer for the Executive Office of the President, where he had oversight of the personnel security, physical security and emergency preparedness programs. From 1983 until retiring in 2004, Mr. Knodell was a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service. His assignments included the Washington Field Office, Presidential Protective Division, Chicago Field Office, 2nd tour of the Presidential Protective Division, Inspection Division, 3rd tour of the Presidential Protective Division where he retired as the Deputy Special Agent in Charge in August 2004.
    From 1979 until 1983, Mr. Knodell was a police officer and detective with the McLean County Sheriff's Police in Bloomington, Illinois. Mr. Knodell holds a Bachelors of Science Degree from Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois.
