Mountain Home, Idaho sets between the Danskin and Owyhee Mountains, approximately 40 miles southeast of Boise. Mountain Home, Idaho currently has a population over 14,000 and growing daily due to new industry and "our" Mountain Home Air Force base. You see, Mountain Home has strong ties to the base and their issues are "our" issues. There are many retired military members that live in our community, which also strengthens the ties. Annually, we have our Mountain Home Air Force Appreciation Day. Which we can proudly boast to being one of the largest parades in Idaho. The Chamber also hosts other events throughout the year.

A Word From Your President
FALL HARVEST Hot cider, football, raking leaves, chilly nights...... autumn is in the air. Can you believe it’s October already? With fall comes the Chamber’s Fall Harvest Festival. Sadly, this event fell off the calendar last year, however, on October 6th; Fall Harvest is back! It promises to be better than ever!! Many of the events and activities that the Chamber offers would not happen without volunteers. We just wrapped up another highly successful Air Force Appreciation Day event led by Randy Valley. He would be the first to tell you he had a lot of great volunteers assisting him. These people donate their time and efforts for the good of the community; trying to make a difference. This years Fall Harvest committee is led by Nancy Thompson. The other committee volunteers to include Giving Tree are Vickie Bermensolo, Deb Swearingen, Tammy McCloud, Dan Collins, Peg Root, Terri Exon, Rich Sykes, Brenda Franks and of course Mindy and Renae at the Chamber office. Thanks to the Fall Harvest Committee and The City of Mountain Home, this event promises to offer something for the entire family. Chili & Salsa Cook-Off, Pie Baking Contest, Hayrides, Craft Vendors, a Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt and Live Entertainment. The event will be located in the downtown section and will offer booths from some of our local businesses. There will also be a yard sale in the parking lot at Idaho Independent Bank. All the proceeds from the yard sale with go towards helping local families during the holiday season thru The Giving Tree program. If you have any items to donate for the yard sale or just want more information on events or volunteer opportunities please contact Mindy or Renae at the Chamber office for more information. As you read your Chamber newsletter and this article please share with all your employees, family and friends. Help spread the word about this great Chamber event on October 6th from 10:00 Am to 3:00 PM. As I mentioned earlier, this event is made possible by the volunteers that do this for our community. The best way to show our appreciation to the volunteers, merchants and farmers is to turn out in great numbers!!!! See you at Fall Harvest. Robby

2012 Fall Harvest was a big success!
What a great turnout for our 16th Annual Fall Harvest Festival!! Congratulations to our cook-off contest winners: Samantha Fogleman won the pie baking contest with her Candy Turtle Pie, Tammy McCloud won the salsa cook-off with her mango salsa, and Kim Sykes and Ray Liercke won the chili cook-off with their delicious chili. A big thank you to Nancy Thompson for chairing the event. I also want to thank Deb Swearingen, Peg Root, Dan Collins, Brenda Franks, Rich Sykes and Bob Roberts for all of their help planning the event. Thank you to everyone who donated to the "Dinner on a Farmer": Bennett Creek Ranch, Fort Boise Produce, Flying H Ranch, Paul's Market, Jack Post Farms, and Larry Jewett. Vickie Bermensolo and the Giving Tree Committee did an excellent job with the yard sale. Thank you to all of you who helped with the event and who donated items for this cause. Without all of you this would not have been such a success!
