Mermentau Basin
Salinity Monitoring Sites

This web site provides the most current Mermentau Basin water salinity data to the Louisiana coastal commercial fishery and farming industries, and to other interested observers. The data includes water temp and water salinity readings, and may be viewed as both a table of values and a time-series graph for a selected interval. Lockmasters and other assigned personnel employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, routinely collect, analyze, and record water quality data from over fifty monitoring sites. These sites are located from the Corps lock structure at Leland Bowman, along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) to Grand Lake, and west to the Corps Calcasieu lock structure. Click on map below in area of interest to drill down to specific monitoring locations.
