Obtain Documents
Online Most documents published by NCJRS' Federal Sponsors since 1995 are available in full text format from the NCJRS Web site, Abstracts Database, or other related Web sites. Links to these online documents are included in the full abstract record and appear on the search results page, as shown below. Please note: In addition to links to the document or if an item is not available online, links to the publisher's Web site or other relevant resources may be provided.

Mail In addition to being available online, many recent documents published by NCJRS' Federal Sponsors may be ordered in print. An “Order ” image appears next to the NCJ Number for items that are available for online ordering. “Order Photocopy” appears next to the NCJ Number for results that are not available in our inventory, but may be ordered through NCJRS' Photocopy Service. Click on “Order” or “Order Photocopy” to add the item to your Shopping Cart.

Photocopy Services
Photocopies of select NCJRS publications and agency final reports are available for a fee. “Order Photocopy” will appear next to the NCJ Number for documents that may be ordered through NCJRS' photocopy service. Additionally, the "Sale" field of the abstract will indicate "National Institute of Justice/NCJRS, Paper Reproduction Sales," as noted in the example below. Photocopies of copyright-protected materials are not available from NCJRS. Due to copyright, only one photocopy of a document per request can be provided. Photocopy fees are calculated based on the number of pages appearing in the original document (page count) and your location (domestic or outside the U.S.). Page counts may include blank pages as they appear in the original document. The chart below details photocopy service fees. Customers will not be billed until the availability of the requested document is confirmed.
Interlibrary Loan Publications in the Abstracts Database are available through interlibrary loan to patrons in the United States and Canada. Only libraries and "NCJRS Exempt" organizations and individuals (Federal, State, and local government agencies and members of the law enforcement and/or corrections community) can initiate an interlibrary loan.
Interlibrary loans within the United States cost $15 per item. Loans to Canada cost $16.50 (U.S. funds) per item. Advanced payment is required in advance by check or government purchase order (payable to "NCJRS,"), NCJRS deposit account, VISA or MasterCard. Loans to "NCJRS Exempt" organizations and individuals are free of charge.
Loan requests by libraries and exempt individuals can be placed online or via mail, e-mail, and fax.

In Person The NCJRS Library, located in Rockville, Maryland, is open to researchers during regular business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.). Patrons may use collection materials onsite free of charge. Patrons from Federal, State, and local government agencies and members of the law enforcement or corrections community may arrange to borrow materials from the collection in person. All other patrons must arrange loans through the interlibrary loan process.
Visitors must make an appointment to visit the library and give the library staff a list of documents and/or subjects they want to research during their visit 48 hours in advance.
