“I am grateful to Dennis Blair for his service and commitment to keeping our nation safe.   The Director of National Intelligence is one of the most important jobs in Washington.  I hope the next Director will be given the necessary autonomy to carry out the mission of bringing the Intelligence Community together to keep America safe.  The White House must empower and support the DNI in this effort.  We’ve seen 15 terror plots against our country in the last year and too many times we’ve escaped mass loss of life by shear luck.  We have to be right all the time.  The terrorists only have to be right once.”
