GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  PURPOSE. TO PROVIDE ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE LAUNCH DATE FOR THE HIGH INTENSITY TACTICAL TRAINING (HITT) PROGRAM AMONGST ALL INSTALLATIONS THAT BEGAN 1 OCTOBER 2012.
2.  SITUATION. TO PROVIDE A COMPREHENSIVE, FUNCTIONALLY BASED STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING PROGRAM RELATED TO HIGH INTENSITY TRAINING FOR ALL ACTIVE DUTY AND RESERVE MARINES IN SUPPORT OF REF A AND B.
3.  BACKGROUND. REF B INTRODUCED THE CONCEPT OF "FUNCTIONAL FITNESS TRAINING" TO THE MARINE CORPS AND DISCUSSES THE RELEVANCE OF SUCH TRAINING FOR OPTIMALLY PREPARING MARINES FOR COMBAT.  AS A RESULT OF THIS PAPER ALONG WITH REF C WHICH OUTLINES THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMBAT CONDITIONING PROGRAM (CCP), HQ SEMPER FIT HAS DEVELOPED THE HIGH INTENSITY TACTICAL TRAINING (HITT) PROGRAM TO SUPPORT THESE REQUIREMENTS.
4.  THE HIGH INTENSITY TACTICAL TRAINING (HITT) PROGRAM'S PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO ENHANCE OPERATIONAL FITNESS LEVELS AND OPTIMIZE COMBAT READINESS AND RESILIENCY FOR THE ACTIVE DUTY AND RESERVE MARINE. THIS COMPREHENSIVE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING PROGRAM TAKES INTO CONSIDERATION THE PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF OPERATIONAL RELATED ACTIVITIES IN ORDER TO OPTIMIZE AND SUSTAIN PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE WHILE IN COMBAT. IN ESSENCE, THE HITT PROGRAM FOCUSES ON ENHANCING ATHLETICISM FOR TODAY'S WARRIOR ATHLETE.
5.  THE HIGH INTENSITY TACTICAL TRAINING (HITT) PROGRAM COMPONENTS ARE SPECIFIC IN NATURE AND REQUIRE THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF PHYSICAL FITNESS.  PROGRAM COMPONENTS INCLUDE INJURY PREVENTION, STRENGTH AND POWER, SPEED AND AGILITY, AND CORE STABILITY AND FLEXIBILITY WITH RELATION TO TASK SPECIFIC SITUATIONS.
6.  WITH SPECIFIC EMPHASIS DEDICATED TOWARDS PROPER TECHNIQUE AND PERIODIZATION OF TRAINING AS IT RELATES TO RESILIENCY, PROGRAM TYPES ARE DESIGNED AND CUSTOMIZED SPECIFIC TO PRE-DEPLOYMENT, DEPLOYMENT AND POST-DEPLOYMENT PHASES.
7.  SEMPER FIT DIRECTORS SHALL DESIGNATE AN AREA FOR HIGH INTENSITY TACTICAL TRAINING (HITT), CONSISTENT WITH COMBAT FITNESS REQUIREMENTS PER REF C. SEMPER FIT HITT CENTERS SHALL SUPPORT THE HIGH INTENSITY TACTICAL TRAINING PROGRAM BY ENSURING PROPERLY TRAINED AND CERTIFIED STAFF ARE CONDUCTING THE TRAINING.
8.  SEMPER FIT PROGRAM SHALL ENSURE AN ADEQUATE INVENTORY OF COMBAT FITNESS EQUIPMENT IS AVAILABLE TO SUPPORT THE HIGH INTENSITY TACTICAL TRAINING PROGRAM PER REF C.
