I met Major Ausborn in small arms training as he was gearing up for his deployment. We only spent the day together but I'm so saddened at his loss. I hope this event is not so overshadowed by the current headlines that the public overlooks this senseless act by a representative of the Afghan military. May God's love comfort the families and friends of those who are gone. Aus, you'll be missed.

Bless these american warriors. What a waste. This shooting needs to be discussed in open media to show all of America the problems/mistakes that occured here. We need to leave that area as quickly as possible.

RIP comrades. I really am hoping these people were not put in a situation where they had to leave their weapons unloaded because some senior leader is afraid of small arms... If you are in theater and issued a weapon it should be loaded and ready to go at all times. This green, yellow, red business for weapon conditions needs to go away permanently

There is no logic that will help us to understand, grasp this tragedy. On a daily basis our service members sacrifice so much for this country. We as a nation must do a better job of acknowledging that fact. My family and I send our love, support and prayers to all the families of those who lost their lives. We personally knew Major Raymond Estelle. We are grateful for the times we spent with him and his family and will hold dear to those memories. His infectious smile will be greatly missed. This is a terrible senseless tragedy. Hopefully leaders will get a clue soon and get us out of there. We've done all we can over the last 10 years in that place. I was among the first operators over there in 2001 and I've been over there nearly every year since then as either a snake eater or civilian and it just isn't getting any better for the troops or the nationals. It is time to go. My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of these Airmen.

They died for nothing. We can not trust anybody of the Afghan military. Maybe there are some good ones of them, but I hate this happening. I feel sorry for the families. Theyll never see their beloved again. Jens RitterMaster, Sergeant, German Air Force

Charles - you were a friend, a mentor, and someone I always looked up to. I am still in disbelief that your life had to end this way. I'm praying for you and all those around you. Our lives will not be the same without you. My father is going to be there to pay respects in my absence. The Institute shall be heard from today. God Bless, brother.

We toast our faithfull comrades now fallen from the sky and gently caught by God's own hand to be with Him on high. To dwell among the soaring clouds they knew so well before from dawn patrol to victory roll at heaven's very door. And as we fly among them there we're sure to hear their plea. Take care my friend, watch your six, and do one more roll...Just for me.--Capt Gerald Coffee

My heart and prayers go out to the families of those taken way ahead of their time. For all other military personnel serving overseas and those in garrison, this is yet another reminder that people who you know and possibly trust can change in an instant. Remember Ft. Hood. Please keep up your situational awareness and hopefully this will never happen again.
