4/22/2011 - RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFNS) -- As part of a continuing Air Force initiative to provide on-site civilian personnel recruitment support, Air Force Personnel Center officials will stand up an operating location at Robins Air Force Base, Ga., May 1. This is the fourth of five AFPC OLs to support commanders and missions at Air Force installations with large civilian populations, known as large civilian centers.

"AFPC will continue to work jointly with the Air Force Materiel Command, 78th Air Base Wing and Robins AFB on the transition of civilian personnel staffing workload to the OL," said Michelle LoweSolis, the AFPC civilian force integration director. "The OL will report to AFPC leadership while meeting the mission requirements of Robins AFB."

In addition to the Robins OL, AFPC officials activated operating locations at Tinker AFB, Okla., April 1; the Air Force District of Washington July 1; and Hill AFB, Utah, Feb.1.  They will activate the one additional OL at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, July 1.

"With a supported AFPC presence at the LCCs, AFPC will have first-hand knowledge of trends and mission requirements to ensure success in civilian staffing at Robins AFB and the other LCCs," said Maj. Gen. A. J. Stewart, AFPC commander. "Our expectation is no degradation in the civilian hiring process and to relentlessly strengthen our Air Force for the challenges ahead."

The AFPC OL at Robins will support more than 18,000 Air Force civilians there as well as AFMC civilians assigned to Eglin AFB, Fla., and Arnold AFB, Tenn.

Many Robins AFB staff members will transition to the OL. Because they understand the processes and missions and have the full reach-back capability to AFPC for support and assistance, their transition will further enhance civilian personnel process effectiveness.

Once established, the OL team will produce job referral lists, extend job offers, in-process new civilian employees and provide staffing advice to managers, among other functions.

Glad AFPC is helping civilians, especially in the wake of the epic failure that is the FY11 Force Management Program for officers.
