2/3/2011 - ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga -- Rep. Austin Scott of Georgia's 8th Congressional District visited Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command today to learn about the overall Air Force Reserve mission.
The congressman' s first order of business during his visit was an AFRC strategic perspective brief presented by AFRC Commander Lt. Gen. Charles E. Stenner Jr.
"I have tremendous confidence in the Air Force Reserve," Mr. Scott said. "As I travel around these bases, and meet these young Airmen: they're impressive - they're well trained - they're people we can have faith in."
Additionally, he received briefings from other AFRC senior leaders about the command to include a personnel overview, global operations and military construction and modernization programs.
"In his first 21 days of office, Congressman Scott has a good view of what Air Force reservists do all over the world," General Stenner said. "This has been a great first look, and we hope he will come back often."
In his final meeting, the congressman learned how the command is preparing for future operations and responsibilities and was impressed with how AFRC meets so many demands.
"As a taxpayer, I appreciate your good stewardship of taxpayer money," he said. "As a congressman, I hope you'll keep me informed of your needs."
Mr. Scott was elected president of the freshman class of the 112th Congress, the largest class in more than 60 years. He currently serves on the House Armed Forces and Agricultural committees. |
