International Chief of Chaplains Conference
Print-ready fact-sheetIn February 1990, EUCOM coordinated a NATO Chiefs of Chaplains Conference in Stuttgart. It was to provide a forum to foster cooperation and communication among international chaplains during combined NATO operations. In subsequent years, the conference expanded its focus twice, first from “North America/European Chiefs of Chaplains Conference” and then to “International Military Chiefs of Chaplains Conference.”
Today, EUCOM holds chaplain conferences annually, co-hosting conferences with the Ministry of Defense of the nation hosting the conference. These conferences provide excellent opportunities to build on existing relationships with traditional allies, as well as establish new friendships with other partner nations to build their capacities for chaplaincies that can be voices for good governance, human rights, justice, and religious freedom — all of which play a role in supporting and enhancing regional stability and security.
