11/9/2010 - WASHINGTON (AFNS) -- Secretary of the Air Force Michael Donley, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz and Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force James A. Roy salute the Marine Corps on its 235th birthday Nov. 10.
Secretary Donley wrote a letter to the secretary of the Navy stating:
"Congratulations as you celebrate the 235th birthday of the United States Marine Corps. Having served faithfully for over two centuries, thriving in adversity no matter how brutal the circumstances, and with unmatched courage and conviction, U.S. Marines have answered the nation's call with distinction. America's Airmen are honored to stand firmly with our Marine Corps partners for the timeless cause of freedom. We salute you on this historic day."
General Schwartz wrote a letter to the commandant of the Marine Corps stating:
"Congratulations to the U.S. Marine Corps on 235 years of service to our great nation. The Marine heritage is rich in courage, honor, and commitment. Today's Marine represents a legacy of dedication and sacrifice, and embodies the same warrior ethos that has prevailed for more than two centuries. The men and women of the U.S. Air Force are proud to serve with the U.S. Marine Corps in defending our nation's freedoms, and protecting our way of life. Happy birthday to the Marines!"
Chief Roy wrote a letter to the sergeant major of the Marine Corps stating:
"Congratulations to the men and women of the Marine Corps as you celebrate your service's 235th birthday. From the halls of Montezuma to the current fights around the world, your Marines' pride has shown through as you helped keep America secure. I speak for all of America's enlisted Airmen when I say thank you for your many contributions to our national security. We are proud to serve with you and call you comrades in arms. Happy birthday!"

11/12/2010 3:27:18 PM ET 235 years of defending our freedom and protecting our way of life. Maybe we can mimic our brother service and step up our game as an elite fighting force. Legacy of dedication and sacrifice. In the Air Force we have a Lagacy of Honor. It seems to me we still need a few more years to gain this so called Legacy of Honor.
