Carole Osman

January 12, 2011 — The DoDDS Korea District Office is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Carole Osman to serve as the new assistant principal of Daegu American School. Ms. Oman’s most recent teaching experience is with the Kaiserslautern District, Europe where she served as Art Educator for the past eight years.

Ms. Osman was born in New York, New York. After graduating from high school, she attended State University College at Buffalo, New York and received a Bachelor’s of Science in K-12 Art Education with a minor in Creative Writing. She also attended Bank Street College of Education and Parsons School of Design in New York, New York where she earned a Masters Degree in Administration Supervision with a Visual Art focus.  Her other educational background as a lifelong learner includes 30 plus master credits in technology, the arts and core subject areas.

Ms. Osman comes to the Korea District with teaching experiences in the areas of K-12 Art Education, Language Arts, and Compensatory Reading. She has taught in the states of New York, New Mexico, Florida, North Carolina and the Virgin Islands. Her teaching experience has been with Department of Defense Dependent Schools in Korea, Japan, Turkey and Germany.

Throughout her educational career Ms. Osman has served in a number of leadership roles including Chairperson for Specialists  in Visual and Performing Arts, Foreign Language, Business, Technology and Home Economics. She served as a member of the School Advisory Committee, Continuous School Improvement Committee, Discipline Committee, School Safety Action Plan Committee and Scheduling Committee. In addition to this, Ms. Osman served as Treasurer for PTSA and is the current Treasurer for the Overseas Art Education Association.  She was a supervisory teacher for Ball State Student Teacher Program and is currently a University of Phoenix faculty member. While teaching in New York State, she worked in collaboration with the Sullivan County Workforce Development to create Jobs Through The Arts, a federally funded, standards based, cross-curricular program for at risk high school students. She has facilitated cross curricular workshops for faculty and community members.

Ms. Osman is a practicing artist and enjoys working with other artists in the community. She loves new adventures and delights in the connections she discovers between her culture and those of the people and places she lives and travels. To this end, she learned Korean Brush Painting and is a Japanese Tea Practitioner. She has two children, who were Daegu American students, a new husband and a cat she calls Kitty.
