The staff operationalizes theater campaign plans which enable EUCOM components to perform their missions, engage with partners, and provide comprehensive communication and information interoperability as part of a “whole of government” approach.
J6 strives to satisfy mission support, net-centric, information sharing and knowledge management requirements as it enables EUCOM priorities.
For more than 15 years, EUCOM has hosted Combined Endeavor, the largest command, control, communications and computers (C4) exercise in the world, which improves interoperability with partners to prepare for coalition deployments and support global contingencies. Through Combined Endeavor and other activities, the J6 directorate achieves crucial C4 interoperability with NATO, NATO nations, coalition nations, and other agencies and partners to support the commander’s priorities and U.S. strategic interests.
Staff members maintain information management and IT services in all core IT service areas and deliver maximum effective operational capabilities to the warfighter through optimization of IT investments across the spectrum of IT systems within the Department of Defense distribution portfolio. They also provide strategy, governance, resource management guidance, and oversight to enable EUCOM’s allies and partners that have joint net-centric capability. Additionally, J6 provides important expertise in the command’s cyber defense efforts, executing crisis, contingency, and exercise planning. Ultimately, J6 pursues a vision of enabling full spectrum net-centric operations and cyberspace superiority, remaining attuned to cyber challenges unique to the European theater.
