Febrary 28, 1991 -- End of the Gulf War

The Persian Gulf War, codenamed Operation Desert Storm (Jan. 17 – Feb. 28,1991) commonly referred to as simply the Gulf War, was a U.N.-authorized war with coalition forces from 34 nations led by the United States against Iraq in response to Iraq's invasion and annexation of Kuwait.

EUCOM directly participated in Operation Desert Storm by providing troops, logistics and intelligence support.

Many countries from the EUCOM AOR participated including: Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Germany provided financial assistance and donated military hardware.
