Pharmacy operations center saves money, enhances customer outreach

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Medical Customer Pharmacy Operations Center helps facilities worldwide procure pharmaceuticals. Five pharmacists and one analyst make up the CPOC, which was established in April 2011, the center’s division chief said.

Information technology leaders learn to write in plain English

About 25 leaders from Defense DLA Information Operations offices met at the McNamara Headquarters Complex May 30 to learn the secrets of good writing. The coursewas designed to help IT professionals become compliant with the 2010 Plain Writing Act.

DLA Land and Maritime employees at several sites now part of DLA Distribution

Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime employees performing retail storage and distribution functions at Albany, Ga., and Barstow, Calif., became part of the DLA Distribution organization June 3. The move was part of DLA’s storage and distribution realignment.

Industrial Hardware added as DLA Troop Support’s fifth supply chain

Defense Logistics Agency Director Navy Vice Adm. Mark Harnitchek has approved the establishment of a fifth supply chain, industrial hardware, for DLA Troop Support. Harnitchek announced the decision in a June 4 memo to DLA Troop Support senior leaders.

Defense Logistics Agency facilities in Norfolk to receive VPP Star status

DLA Norfolk has achieved a major milestone in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Program. The facility was recommended to receive Star site status. Instilling a safety mindset within the organization was paramount.

DLA Troop Support now offers short-order entrees in group rations

Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support is now ensuring that U.S. service members can dine on short-order entrees while on missions in locations with no dining facility. The unitized group ration-A menu now has several new options for ordering meals.

DLA in Richmond receives 2011 Fire Officer, Fire Department of the Year

DLA Fire and Emergency Services in Richmond, Va., was named the 2011 DLA Fire Department of the Year, and Assistant Chief Mark Shreve was named the DLA Fire Officer of the Year. These winners wil go on to compete at the Defense Department level.
