Olson Taps Washington Veteran as New Chief of Staff

Rep. Pete Olson has appointed Steve Ruhlen, a veteran of Capitol Hill, the private sector and the White House to serve as his new Chief of Staff.  Ruhlen brings 14 years of Capitol Hill experience to the position.

“As we work to tackle the challenges of our economy, national security and fiscal discipline, I am pleased to have a Texan with such depth of experience leading my team,” Olson said.  “Steve has served in the White House and in the House of Representatives for many years.  As a former Chief of Staff myself, I know that his steady leadership and firsthand knowledge of how the Hill works will serve my constituents well.  I welcome Steve back to Capitol Hill and thank both him and his family for his service.”

Ruhlen is a graduate of the University of Texas.  He most recently served as a Senior Vice President of J.P. Morgan Chase.  Prior to that he was Deputy Assistant to former Vice President Dick Cheney and was responsible for House legislative affairs.  He was Chief of Staff to former Texas Rep. Henry Bonilla from 1993 – 2001.  He and his wife and four children live in Northern Virginia.
