How do I apply for the coverage under the Transitional Care For Service-Related Conditions (TCSRC) Program? |
You have to submit an application packet to the Military Medical Support Office Central Cell. Your packet must include: - A letter requesting coverage;
- Copies of documents proving the qualifying medical condition was service-related. (for example, copies of medical records that show symptoms were present, but the condition was not diagnosed; a letter from your Commanding Officer confirming your condition is service related); and
- An Application Worksheet. Complete your portion and then give it to your provider to show your conditions(s) can be resolved within 180 days. The worksheet must be completed by the provider that is or will be treating your condition.

Coverage starts on the date the Department of Defense physician determines you meet all the program requirements. Once approved, the Military Medical Support Offices sends you a letter telling you about your authorized care and coverage start and end dates. Notes: - If coverage is denied, we suggest you contact Veteran’s Health Administration at 1-877-222-8387 or visit www.va.gov to find out if you’re eligible for VA benefits
- If you are currently in the National Guard or Reserve, contact your unit to determine if you qualify for line of duty benefits or qualify to purchase coverage under TRICARE Reserve Select at www.tricare.mil/trs.
- If you are no longer eligible for care under any of these programs, you may consider purchasing coverage under TRICARE’s Continuing Health Care Benefits Program at www.tricare.mil/chcbp. or call 1-800-444-5445.
