I have been a participant of African Endeavor since its inception in 2006. I have performed the Single Channel Radio piece for the Marines from the planning conferences to the execution phases. Working alongside with the multinational African armed forces has been one of my most interesting tasks I have undertaken throughout my Marine Corps career. There are many challenges that AE has and will continue to have, but that is what strengthens every individual nation. There is no such thing as a perfect execution with this level of exercise. There are over 25 participating African nations in one country working to achieve one goal, "interoperability." That is not easily achieved because there are many obstacles such as logistics, language barriers, different types of equipment, etc. I think that with the hard work and technical expertise that comes from everyone here, regardless of the obstacle, we all have one thing in common; to adapt, overcome and accomplish the mission.
I know I have built relationships here in the continent of Africa that will last a lifetime and at the end of the day, we can all have a sense that we have left a footprint here.
