Officials seek nominees for Pitsenbarger Award

10/22/2010 - RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas  -- Officials at the Air Force Sergeants Association are seeking nominations for the 2011 Pitsenbarger Award.

The AFSA Pitsenbarger Award is presented annually to an Air Force enlisted servicemember who has performed a heroic act, on or off duty, that resulted in saving a life or preventing serious injury to another person or persons.

The heroic act must have placed the nominee in risk of personal danger and been a legitimate attempt to save a life or prevent serious injury to another person or persons. The award period is Jan. 1 through Dec. 31.

Nominees must be Air Force enlisted active duty, Guard or Reserve. Officials at each major command, field operating agency and direct reporting unit may submit only one nomination.

Organizations and base-level personnel must contact their MAJCOM, FOA or DRU for applicable suspense dates and additional information regarding nomination procedures.

Mail nominations directly to Air Force Sergeants Association, ATTN: Military And Government Relations, P.O. BOX 50, Temple Hills, Maryland, 20757-0050.  If express mail is used, submitters must send nominations to 5211 Auth Road, Suitland, Md., 20746, by March 1, 2011.
