Transportation
In an area growing as quickly as Central Texas, one of the most important issues we face is how to get from place to place efficiently with the hundreds of thousands of new drivers on the road. I believe we must integrate a multi-modal approach to creating new transportation infrastructure to handle the growth we are experiencing and plan for future growth. In my time in Congress I have obtained funding for many roads including RM 1431 in Cedar Park, the NE Inner Loop in Georgetown, and SH 195 in Williamson and Bell Counties. While federal money is an important component in this picture, and I will continue to fight to make sure the 31st district receives its share of federal highway money, the state legislature must increase its commitment to transportation. While I support adding more lane capacity in most circumstances, I do not support the creation of the Trans Texas Corridor. While I understand the need for increased infrastructure, I cannot support a project that has not been fully and publicly vetted and that will cause irreparable damage to so many Texas land owners.
