The DoDEA Pacific Public Affairs Office initiates and manages DoDEA's communications and outreach efforts for the Pacific to include Guam, Japan, Okinawa, South Korea. The office is responsible for media relations, internal information programs and communication with students, parents, teachers, school administrators and the public.
August 17, 2002 — On Friday, August 17, 2002, Dr. Nancy Bresell, DoDDS Pacific Director, announced the selection of the new superintendent for Okinawa District and the new superintendent for the Japan District, Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS), Pacific.
The new superintendent for Okinawa District was the former Assistant Superintendent, Okinawa District, has been an elementary DoDDS principal, as well as an elementary, middle, and high school assistant principal. She has also worked in the education division at the regional level, served as an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) officer in Germany, and held the reading coordinator position in the Pacific. She replaces the former superintendent, who moved to the position of Deputy Director, Domestic Dependents Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS).
The new superintendent of DDESShad been the Assistant Superintendent, Japan District, entered the DoDDS system as a teacher. He subsequently served as assistant principal and principal of Kinnick High School, Japan District; principal of Kubasaki High School, Okinawa District; and principal of Edgren High School in Misawa, Japan, where he was selected as the 1999 Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Principal of the Year. He replaces the former superintendent who accepted the position of District Superintendent, Fort Campbell Domestic Dependents Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS).
Bresell said, " DoDDS Pacific is very fortunate to have such outstanding leaders, dedicated to serving the needs of the children of our American military communities. Both have the experience and commitment to provide the leadership necessary to ensure the highest student achievement for all students."
