thumbnailSara Biesiandy is the regional winner of the ConvaTec Comeback Kids Award.  The Great Comebacks Award Program honors the achievements of children and teenagers living inspirational lives with Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and/or ostomy.  Each year regional awards are given to 12 people throughout the United States who have struggled with a chronic condition and have shown extraordinary strength and courage.

The Comeback Award is given to a recipient who has lived an inspirational life.  How have you inspired others who have shared similar experiences?

I have inspired others who have shared similar experiences as myself by encouraging them to never give up and to be grateful that they have been given the gift of life regardless of what they may have endure.  I tell them that God does not let anybody go through experiences in life that he/she cannot handle.

I attend the UOA Youth Rally every summer.  It is a camp for children with similar medical conditions.  There, I get to see others that have had to overcome the same obstacles in life as I - and it is a place that allows me to express my feelings and emotions to someone that will truly understand.

High school is wrapping up for you, what are your future plans?

High school has been one of the best times of my life.  Its demand for hard work and perseverance has prepared me for a very achievable goal in my life, college and a rewarding career. Although my plans are fairly uncertain, I hope to attend one of the highly regarded universities here in Texas and to study in the Math and Science fields, possibly forensics.  I am looking forward to receiving an additional education and I believe that the field of forensics will provide for me a very desirable field with profuse job opportunities.
