If you like your burgers well done, but still juicy and tender, try this easy way to make them perfect every time.
Heavenly Hamburgers
Ingredients
- 1 large slice high-quality white sandwich bread, crust removed and discarded, bread chopped into 1/4 inch pieces (about 1/2 cup)
- 2 tablespoons whole milk
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 medium clove garlic, minced or pressed through a garlic press (about 1 teaspoon)
- 2 teaspoons steak sauce
- 1 1/2 pounds ground chuck
- 6 hamburger buns or rolls
- Lettuce, tomato, onion slices and pickle slices for serving
Directions
- In a large bowl, use a fork to mash the bread and milk together until completely combined.
- Stir in the salt, pepper, garlic and steak sauce until well blended.
- Break ground chuck into pieces over the bread mixture; lightly blend, using a fork or your hands until thoroughly combined. Dont over work the beef it will make the burgers tough. Form into six equal patties, about 1/2-inch thick.
- Grill burgers, uncovered, over medium coals until well seared on first side, (about 2 to 4 minutes). Flip burger and continue grilling for about 3 minutes for medium-well, or about 4 minutes for well done.
- While burgers cook, toast buns on cool side of grill, rotating as necessary, to toast evenly.
