GRAFENWOEHR, Germany – In the air or on the ground, medical personnel are putting their skills to the test this October while the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team trains simultaneously and conjunctly across the training sites at the Joint Multinational Training Center.
Elements of the 557th Medical Company and 8th Medical Logistics Company, 421st Multifunctional Medical Battalion as well as the 160th Forward Surgical Team are providing direct support to the 173rd ABCT at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center at Hohenfels, Germany.
Over 800 medical personnel are participating, either as line medics with their units, or at the various field clinics like the level-three combat support hospital here in Grafenwoehr, Germany.
Throughout the month, medical personnel from the 421st Multifunctional Medical Battalion, the 212th Combat Field Hospital, the 204th Field Hospital (UK), and German 2nd Medical Command will train together under the mission command of the 30th Medical Command. The 30th MEDCOM is a Theater-Enabling Command for deployable medical support out of Europe.
“Exercises like this prove that our units are capable of providing world-class healthcare anywhere and demonstrates our ability to work side-by-side with our coalition partners,” said Col. Daniel Orrico, chief of staff, 30th MEDCOM.
