Lithuania Takes Lead at Combined Endeavor

GRAFENWOEHR, Germany -- Lithuania is among 38 other nations at Combined Endeavor 11, a multinational exercise from Sept. 8-22, 2011 in Grafenwoehr, Germany.
The goal of the exercise is to improve North American and European military communications, and computer network inter-connectivity to help nations partner together in responding to regional crisis or disaster.
Maj. Albertas Dusevicius, Lithuanian army, said Lithuania combined endeavor is a most exciting event for our various signal community members. Every year we are anticipating for this event so we are training and preparing our people to come here and to show our best and to gain knowledge from other countries.
The exercise gives all participates the opportunity to gain more knowledge about their nations equipment and learn about other countries equipment. This knowledge could benefit them in the future during a coalition exercise or real world event.
“Coming to Combined Endeavor this year has been very beneficial to us already,” said Dusevicius.
“This year we are a leading nation for mission support network 1which is significant because Lithuania has never participated in Combined Endeavor as a leading nation before. Again it's such a bright experience for us and a new experience since we've never done this before,” said Dusevicius.
New challenges and goals are to be met as a lead nation during Combined Endeavor.
“First of all its a great responsibility we are a node for information flow, a node for providing connections to other communication systems. Which means we need to make all configurations and reconfigurations in a more responsible mode. We need to check and recheck we need to get absolutely everything clear,” said Dusevicius.
Nations that have previously participated in Combined Endeavor claim their experiences during the exercise benefit them in the present and in the past whether its choosing new equipment or making force changes.
“We've used previous experiences at Combined Endeavor to help us to choose the new technologies and equipment that we want acquire for our forces. We did some organizational changes in our forces from our experiences at combined endeavor. We've also acquired a lot of contacts from other countries armed forces signal community,” said Dusevicius.
Combined Endeavor gives some nations the chance to show their best in multiple ways.
“Being at Combined Endeavor is a great responsibility because you are on a scope from 38 other nations. You can be checked and evaluated on your behavior, your communications, your training, and your experience from a perspective of 38 nations. Which makes you sit up and show your best in all those perspectives,” said Dusevicius.
