KC-135 Stratotanker Mission
This seasoned aircraft has been successfully ensuring aerial aircraft refueling for over 50 years, and helping to accomplish the Air Force's goal of global reach. The KC-135 Stratotanker provides the core aerial refueling capability for the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard. It also provides aerial refueling support to Navy, Marine Corps and allied nation aircraft. Plus, it's an important asset for the troops: the KC-135 is capable of evacuating patients during emergencies.
C-130 Hercules Mission
It may be just one aircraft, but it has many critical roles. When troops and equipment need to get into hostile territory or supplies need to be delivered to natural disaster sites, the C-130 Hercules mission gets it done. It can airdrop loads up to 42,000 pounds or use its high-flotation landing gear to deliver cargo on rough, dirt strips. From utility helicopters to armored vehicles to military personnel, this aircraft can perform a wide range of operational airlift missions in both peace and wartime situations.
C-17 Globemaster III Mission
The airlift mission's newest member is fast, flexible and effective. The C-17 Globemaster III truly is a master of the globe, with the ability to serve military and civilians alike in a variety of capacities. Threats to U.S. interests have changed in recent years, and we need bigger, stronger firepower and equipment to protect us against potential adversaries' increased capabilities. The C-17 meets this need not only for potential armed situations, but also for peacekeeping and humanitarian missions worldwide. The ultimate measure of airlift effectiveness is how quickly the aircraft can get a combat force close to a potential battle area. The C-17 is capable of rapid, strategic troop and cargo delivery to main operating bases or directly to forward bases in the deployment area. This mission includes performing tactical airlift and airdrop missions as well as transporting litters and ambulatory patients during aeromedical evacuations when required.
C-21 Mission
Not many business jets also airlift military cargo and ambulatory patients. But, the C-21 can and does. The C-21 aircraft has twin-turbofan-engines, and provides both cargo and passenger airlift in support of state and federal missions. Additionally, the aircraft is capable of transporting one litter or five ambulatory patients during medical evacuations.
C-32 Mission
In the C-32 Mission, you get the opportunity to use the distinctive call, Air Force Two. This aircraft provides safe, comfortable and reliable transportation for our nation's leaders, including the Vice President of the United States. Additionally, it is used to transport dignitaries such as the First Lady and members of the Cabinet and Congress to locations around the world.
C-38 Talon Mission
If you're in the undergraduate pilot training program at the Air Education and Training Command, you fly the C-38 Talon - a twin-engine, high-altitude, supersonic jet trainer. It is used in a variety of roles because of its design, economy of operations, ease of maintenance, high performance and exceptional safety record. Air Combat Command, Air Force Materiel Command and NASA also use the C-38A for a variety of missions.
C-40 B/C Mission
Serve your country by getting U.S. leaders to locations around the world where they work to protect our interests. The C-40 B/C mission is to provide safe, comfortable and reliable transportation for its primary customers, combat commanders, as well as members of the Cabinet and Congress. The aircraft also performs a wide range of other operational support missions.
C-5 Galaxy Mission
The Air Force fleet includes the largest airlifter in the world the gigantic C-5 Galaxy. The C-5, with its tremendous capacity, provides airlift services in support of our national defense. This mission delivers fully equipped, combat-ready military units to any point in the world, and can do it on short notice. After troop delivery, it can provide the field support required to help sustain the fighting force.
LC-130 Mission
The LC-130 mission is airlift and transport. For the Air National Guard, this includes supporting missions in Antarctica by flying, maintaining and supporting LC-130 aircraft specifically designed to function in icy terrain. The U.S. is the only operator of this ski-equipped aircraft in the world. Known for its strength and versatility, the LC-130 performs operations such as cargo transport, aeromedical missions, weather reconnaissance, and tactical airlift and airdrops.
B-2 Spirit Mission
This multi-role bomber has the ability to go where no other bomber has previously been. The B-2 Spirit's stealth characteristics and technological advancement give it the ability to penetrate enemies' most sophisticated defenses and threaten their most valued assets. With its ability to deliver both conventional and nuclear munitions, the B-2 mission is to bring massive firepower, in a short time, anywhere on the globe.
A-10 Thunderbolt II Mission
The versatile A-10 Thunderbolt II and its fighter pilots are critical to our troops' success and our country's protection. With 1.5 miles of visibility, this flying gun offers quite a view especially with night vision goggles. The A-10 Thunderbolt II uses the aircraft's excellent maneuverability to fly at low altitudes and air speeds to unleash its highly accurate weapons. This aircraft has been used extensively in recent engagements to protect our country, as only the A-10 Thunderbolt can loiter near battle areas for extended periods of time and operate under 1,000-foot ceilings. With all-around vision, it allows for accurate and effective targeting. The wide combat radius, and short takeoff and landing capability provide essential close air support of ground forces.
F-15 Eagle Mission
The F-15 E Strike Eagle reigns supreme over the battlefield. This aircraft and its fighters have the ability to penetrate enemy defenses, then outperform and outfight any current enemy aircraft. It executes air-to-air and air-to-ground missions at low altitude day or night in any weather conditions. The F-15's array of electronic systems and weaponry give it the ability to detect, acquire, track and attack enemy aircraft while operating in friendly or enemy-controlled airspace.
F-16 Fighting Falcon Mission
Its official name is the Fighting Falcon, but with its resemblance to the fierce snake, it's also known as the Viper. This highly nimble aircraft is an all-weather, multi-role fighter. It is highly maneuverable and has proven itself in air-to-air combat and air-to-surface attack for the United States and allied nations. Its mission is to provide a relatively low-cost, high-performance weapons system.
F-22 Raptor Mission
The F-22 Raptor's air dominance cannot be matched by any known or planned fighter aircraft. The military's newest fighter aircraft is a superb blend of stealth, super cruise, maneuverability and integrated avionics, and it represents an exponential leap in war fighting capabilities. It is the full realization of operational concepts that are vital to 21st century defense. The Raptor mission is to perform both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. This fighter is a critical component of the Global Strike Task Force, and is designed to project air dominance rapidly and at great distances. It is charged with defeating threats to our nation's Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps.
E-8 Mission
This aircraft mission needs star performers to disrupt enemy forces. The E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System's (Joint STARS) primary mission is to provide ground surveillance, and then get that information to ground and air commanders. This surveillance is critical for troop success in that it supports attack operations and helps defeat enemy forces. With its multifaceted abilities, this aircraft can support a variety of missions and roles, from peacekeeping operations to war fighting.
HH-60 Pave Hawk Mission
The HH-60 Pave Hawk is literally a lifesaver. Its primary mission is to enter hostile territory day or night to recover isolated personnel during war. It also has a critical peacetime mission to perform civil search and rescue, medical evacuation, disaster response, humanitarian assistance, security cooperation/aviation advisory, NASA space flight support, and rescue command and control.
Space Mission
The Air Guard's Space mission supports U.S. military operations worldwide through the use of many different types of satellite, launch and cyber operations. This provides individuals in the field with real-time situational awareness. This mission is multifaceted and includes missile warning and defense; space surveillance and satellite operations; tactics development; and intelligence preparation of the battle space.
