Joint Forces Staff College (JFSC) Privacy Act Statement

Authority: 5 U.S.C. 552a(e)(3), enacted into law by Section 3 of the Privacy Act of 1974 (Public Law 93-579), and 5 U.S.C. Part 310. The following statement is furnished to individuals who supply information to JFSC.

Purpose: To manage, supervise, and administer the centrally managed student registration process at the JFSC for Active military, Reserve, National Guard, civilian, and contractor employees attached to combatant commands, their components, DoD/Field Operating Agencies and other U.S. Government Agencies. To verify an individual’s security clearance and authorization for access during a classified visit.

Routine Uses: Authorized JFSC personnel may access this information on a need-to-know basis. The information may also be disclosed to DoD components to provide their assigned personnel’s student course completion data. The "Blanket Routine Uses" that appear at the beginning of service component compilation of systems notices also apply to this system.

Whether Disclosure is Mandatory or Voluntary and Effect on Individual Not Providing Information: Disclosure of requested information is voluntary. However, failure to provide the requested information may result in the denial of entrance and/or access to the JFSC and the information to which access is requested. Failure to provide the social security number may delay processing. The use of the social security number is necessary for identification and course record/completion purposes only and is obtained directly from the individual.

Privacy and Security Notice

The Joint Forces Staff College site is provided as a public service. Information presented on the JFSC internet site is considered public information and may be distributed or copied. Use of appropriate byline/photo/image credits is requested.

Information concerning visitor use of this site may be collected for analytical and statistical purposes. For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this government computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.

Raw data logs will only be used to identify individual users and their usage habits for authorized law enforcement investigations or national security purposes.

Unauthorized attempts to deny service, upload information, change information, or to attempt to access a non-public site from this service are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under Title 18 of the U.S. Code to include the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act.
