110th Airlift Wing
The 110th Airlift Wing is located at the Battle Creek Air National Guard Base in Battle Creek, Michigan. The 110th is in the process of standing up the new 110th Air Operations Group and a fleet of C-21 passenger airlift jets as a flying mission. The transition brings an end to one era, which supported the A-10 Thunderbolt II, but also brings the beginning of a fresh age of continued excellence. This unit has seen 60 years, 11 commanders, 7 types of aircraft, and 6 major reorganizations. The 110th Airlift Wing traces its lineage through one of its component units: the 172nd Fighter Squadron, which earned federal recognition on Sept. 16th, 1947.
