119th Wing

The 119th Wing in Fargo, North Dakota is composed of two squadrons. The 177th Airlift Squadron's missions include Operational Support Airlift, transportation of distinguished visitors, and a responsive aeromedical airlift system to move eligible patients.  The 178th Reconnaissance Squadron includes operations of the MQ-1 Predator. The MQ-1 Predator is a medium-altitude, long-endurance, remotely piloted aircraft.

As a Mobility Pilot, you'll master all aspects of advanced aviation and use those skills to fly C-130 Hercules aircraft, transporting everything from cargo to passengers to destinations all over the world. In this role, you'll perform navigation, in-flight refueling, and cargo and passenger delivery. You'll plan and prepare for missions; review mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information; and brief your crew. As you can imagine, the last person to handle an aircraft before it actually takes off bears an immense responsibility to make absolutely certain that the plane is mission ready. That person is the Aerospace Maintenance Specialist. In this job, you'll be accountable for ensuring the aircraft is in perfect working order. If alterations or repairs are needed, you'll assign specialists to fix the issues and work with them to ensure the plane's safety and readiness. Pre-flight, you'll give the plane one last inspection to make sure it's serviced with fuel, hydraulic fluid and liquid oxygen before giving it your final approval. Before that C-130 rolls down the strip, the Air Transportation Specialist makes sure it's packed tight with everything the troops will need to complete missions. From food, water and medical supplies to Humvees and helicopters, you'll be responsible for securely packing cargo so that it can be loaded and transported safely and quickly. You'll even be responsible for checking in passengers and baggage when the cargo is actually military personnel. Imagine sitting in your Air Guard unit, just a few miles from your home, and controlling precision-guided munitions to eliminate an enemy target in a battle thousands of miles away. As a Remotely Operated Aircraft Officer, you'll supervise and lead those missions. In this exciting career, you'll operate remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) equipment and systems, electro-optical sensor systems, and electronic protection (EP) equipment to complete intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. You'll also plan missions, including close air support, interdiction, armed reconnaissance, combat search and rescue, and limited forward air control.
