103rd Airlift Wing

Known as the "Flying Yankees," the 103rd Airlift Wing is the third-oldest Air National Guard unit in the United States, with a history dating back to World War I. The 103rd Airlift Wing is based in East Granby at the Bradley Air National Guard Base at Bradley International Airport. The 103rd Airlift Wing's mission is to provide cargo and passenger airlift, medevac, and distinguished visitor support. They also train, organize and equip personnel to provide an operationally-ready component of the militia by delivering safe, reliable global support airlift, quality centralized engine maintenance, exceptional combined air and space operations center staffing, and outstanding air battle management.

As a Mobility Pilot, you'll master all aspects of advanced aviation and use those skills to fly C-130 Hercules aircraft, transporting everything from cargo to passengers to destinations all over the world. In this role, you'll perform navigation, in-flight refueling, and cargo and passenger delivery. You'll plan and prepare for missions; review mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information; and brief your crew.  You'll ensure your aircraft is preflighted, inspected, loaded, equipped, and manned for mission. It'll be your job to make sure everything and everyone gets to their destination on time. As you can imagine, the last person to handle an aircraft before it actually takes off bears an immense responsibility to make absolutely certain that the plane is mission ready. That person is the Aerospace Maintenance Specialist. In this job, you'll be accountable for ensuring the aircraft is in perfect working order. If alterations or repairs are needed, you'll assign specialists to fix the issues and work with them to ensure the plane's safety and readiness. Pre-flight, you'll give the plane one last inspection to make sure it's serviced with fuel, hydraulic fluid and liquid oxygen before giving it your final approval.
