WIESBADEN, GERMANY — October 5, 2012 — The Department of Defense Dependents Schools Europe last week, announced the addition of two key senior leaders:

Dr. Terry Greene has been selected as the new Department of Defense Dependents Schools-Europe Deputy Director for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment. Mr. Steven Sanchez has been selected as the new superintendent of the Heidelberg District.

Greene, the current principal at the Incirlik Unit School in Turkey, will be responsible for providing educational leadership and administrative direction to the area office educational staff and district superintendents.

She will also oversee, conduct and review all existing school level programs and recommend program changes and enhancements to meet the needs of service members and their families. Additionally, she will also assist in the direction of the development of the professional competencies of DoDDS-Europe staff and co-lead with DoDEA’s headquarters staff on educational reform agendas to ensure continuous learning.

“Being selected for this position is a dream come true for me,” Greene said. “My passion is teaching and learning. I am honored to be working with the educators and administrators in Europe and look forward to the continued collaboration in building a strong culture of educational experience.”

Sanchez, the current acting superintendent in the Heidelberg District, will be responsible for the organization, operation, administration, assessment, and support of schools within the district.

He will also provide direct supervision and broad professional leadership in designing and implementing programs to increase student achievement within the Heidelberg District. One of his main tasks this year is to lead the DoDDS-Europe effort to close the remaining Heidelberg facilities at the end of the school year.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to lead the Heidelberg District as we support the schools in three outstanding military communities,” Sanchez said. “There is no greater honor, for me personally, than serving our military families. I’m looking forward to working with the outstanding educators in our district as they ensure a world class education for our students.”

Dr. Nancy Bresell, the DoDDS-Europe Director said Greene and Sanchez are the right people for the job.

“Both Terry and Steve bring a wealth of educational knowledge and experience to our team,” she said. “Throughout their careers, they have repeatedly demonstrated a sincere commitment to our students, staffs, schools and communities.”
