The Third Region President's Trophy of the Association of the U.S. Army was presented to the Redstone-Huntsville Chapter of AUSA at a third region meeting a week before the Reserve birthday celebration. The chapter's president, Steve Taylor, made it a point to have the trophy at the Reserve event.

    FORT SILL, Okla.--It was the biggest squirrel Dustin Spradlin has probably ever seen -- and a flying one at that. The creature landed next to his farmland April 14 outside Altus Air Force Base. Spradlin could not believe his eyes when Staff Sgt. Ben Borger of the U.S. Army Parachute Team, Golden Knights, walked up in his wing suit and introduced himself. "He actually saw me when my parachute opened and under canopy. Of course, I was about three or four miles away and he didn't believe what he was seeing so, he went back to work. When I hiked up to him and he saw me with all my equipment and the oxygen mask and helmet he was like, 'I guess I was right. I guess I did see a parachutist,'" said Borger.

    REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- It's 4 a.m. on a cool fall Saturday, and 8-year-old John William Diffey is not sleeping soundly all snuggled up in his bed covers. Instead, this go-getter third grader is snap-to awake, greeting deer hunters at Outdoor Recreation, and helping them to get checked in and assigned to the hunting areas. Once his job is done, John William falls in line with his dad, Bill Diffey, and the two head out for their own hunting time in the woods. But, later in the day, the Diffey father and son team are right back at Outdoor Recreation, signing in returning hunters, and recording the weight and other features of any wild game kills. So is the life of one of Redstone Arsenal's youngest volunteers.

    FORT BENNING, Ga. - The 60th Engineer (Vertical) Company had to wait out an erupting volcano and then fly around powerful thunderstorms Saturday morning, but the unit finally made it home. Nearly 150 Soldiers are back at Fort Benning after a yearlong deployment to Afghanistan, where they helped put up large structures and provided heavy equipment support for U.S. and coalition forces.
