CARSON CITY — The Nevada Army National Guard aviation community annually seeks out about a half dozen qualified soldiers to send to the Army’s Initial Entry Rotary Wing course at Fort Rucker. Ala. Pending aviator retirements mean even more pilot slots may be available in this fiscal year. The selection process focuses on aspects that ensure individuals are well vetted for success at the course and long-term performance in the Nevada aviation community.

- Hometown Heroes Salute celebrates unique Guard service
RENO – Ninety four High Rollers were recognized at the third annual Nevada Air Guard Hometown Heroes Salute Ceremony, Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Nevada Air Guard Base. The Hometown Heroes Salute is a campaign to honor Airmen, their families and others who do not wear the uniform, but make sacrifices nonetheless in support of wartime call-ups.
