  4. Children at Baumholder's Wetzel Child Development Center use a toothbrush head, a small motor, a battery and some wire to build their own Eco-Bots.
  5. Dewayen lost his job and became depressed. He started drinking to try to cope with his feelings. His situation became worse and worse, until he finally decided he'd had enough. Dewayen went to VA to get help and was able to loosen the hold of alcohol problems and depression. It takes courage to ask for help; it's not a sign of weakness.

    aggressive attack on a fire in base housing. With the fire just starting to extend into the a...
    ttic, he pulled the ceiling while directing searches to ensure all people and pets were rescued. Coordinating with other fire teams, he helped ventilate the smoke out of the facility, limiting smoke damage to only two rooms. During the subsequent fire investigation, the investigator commented that there was less than a gallon of water on the floor, when typically you would find 50 or more gallons. This little water meant the wood floors were salvageable, thus cutting the fire loss. Thanks to Firefighter Kim's leadership and technical expertise, there were no
    injuries among families or crew, a two-home duplex was saved, and the family was able to reoccupy in a week.
