What is DoD Hiring Reform and why does it matter to me?

DoD Hiring Reform is the collective effort to remove the complexities and inefficiencies of existing hiring processes within the Department, as mandated by the President of the United States. The ability of DoD to perform its mission effectively depends on a talented and engaged workforce, and a reformed hiring process is necessary to further strengthen that workforce.

In addition, job seekers should following these simple steps to ensure their accounts are ready for the transition:

  • Login to USAJOBS and ensure you know your ID and password.  If you haven't accessed USAJOBS in the past 2 years, you will be prompted to provide 3 secret questions and answers as part of USAJOBS security controls.

  • Download a copy of any uploaded documents, and ensure they are clean. Corrupt and/or contaminated documents that cannot be repaired or cleaned will be quarantined and not imported into the new USAJOBS.  In addition, it is always wise to keep a copy of your documents on a local computer.

  • Check the email address that is associated with your USAJOBS account. You may have an out of date email; if so, update your email in your account profile.
