What is Voluntary Separation Incentive Pay (VSIP)? Who benefits?

VSIP is a DOD program, codified in DoD 1400.25-M, Civilian Personnel Manual, Subchapter 1702, “Voluntary Separation Programs, dated June 13, 2008. VSIP may be used to reduce or restructure the workforce, create vacancies for the placement of employees subject to involuntary separation by reduction in force (RIF), and to avoid the need for involuntary separation during RIF. What is the Voluntary Early Retirement Authority (VERA)? Who may use this?

The Secretary of Defense established a voluntary early retirement program to reduce the number of personnel employed by the DOD or to restructure the workforce to meet mission objectives without reducing the overall number of personnel.  VERA has no financial incentive, but it is available for employees who may lack the requisite age or years of service for immediate retirement.  It may be used in conjunction with VSIP, but it is not automatic.  For details, please call (703) 805-1046.

Where can I find information regarding the new “paperless” evaluation reporting system?

How do I know if I am in a “regionalization assignment?”

How to track the status of an Incentive Award nomination?

May I receive Officer Promotion/Selection Board results via e-mail?

Yes.  All that is required is authority to do so by the PEO, current common access card (CAC) credentials to receive encrypted e-mails and a digitally signed e-mail to the HRMD POC.  For further information contact the HRMD POC at (703) 805-1017.

What is BRAC?

BRAC is an acronym that stands for Base Realignment and Closure.  It is the congressionally authorized process DoD uses to reorganize its base structure to more efficiently and effectively support our forces, increase operational readiness, and facilitate new ways of doing business.  For further information, please call the HRMD POC for BRAC at (703) 805-2184.

What is the role of the new Civilian Senior Leader Management Office (CSLMO)?

Who is affected by the Secretary of the Army policy for civilian hiring?

The policy applies to all civilian personnel hires that are filling a vacancy, irrespective of the funding source.  For further information, call (703) 805-1015.

Where do I in-process if I have orders assigning me to HQ, USAASC or within the PEO structure with duty at Fort Belvoir, VA?

How can I get copies of my official Army record if I am separated from the service?

How may I obtain a copy of my military medical record?

Medical records are maintained at one of 58 regional Veterans Affairs (VA) centers around the country or at the national Veterans Affairs Records Management Center in St. Louis. Where can I find information about U.S. Army patches and insignia? Where can I purchase patches/insignia?

Inquiries about patches/insignia can be made to U.S. Army Institute of Heraldry, 9325 Gunston Road, Room S-112, Fort Belvoir, VA 22060-5579 telephone: 703-806-4970. Inquiries should include as much information as possible about the unit and parent units. What is DIMHRS?

Defense Integrated Military Human Resources System (DIMHRS) is a Congressionally-mandated program with efforts spearheaded by the Department of Defense (DoD) focusing on the Army’s personnel and pay functionality. DIMHRS will provide the Army with an integrated, multi-component, personnel and pay system.  For details, contact the POC at (703) 805-1068.

How can I locate a former Army soldier?

The Privacy Act of 1974 prohibits releasing the last known address of former Army members without their written consent. However, the agency identified below will assist your search by forwarding your letter to the service member’s last known address. To pursue locating a former Army soldier:

  1. Write a letter to the soldier. Place this letter in a sealed and stamped envelope, including your full name and return address.
  2. Write a letter addressed to the National Personnel Records Center requesting their assistance with your search. Be sure to include the service member’s name, serial number and/or social security number, and date of birth if available.
  3. Place your envelope addressed to the service member AND the letter to the National Personnel Records Center in ONE envelope. Address this envelope to: National Personnel Records Center, 9700 Page Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63132-5200. Please note current addresses for discharged service members are not maintained at the records center — this center only has the service member’s last officially recorded address. Letters to service members the record center cannot identify or who are known to be deceased will be returned to you.

How do I correct errors in my military records?

What is ADPASS?

U.S. Army Disaster Personnel Accountability and Assessment System (ADPAAS) standardizes a method for the Army to account, assess, manage, and monitor the recovery process for personnel and their families affected and/or scattered by a wide-spread catastrophic event. What is Dwell Time?

Dwell time is the amount of time a Soldier or unit remains at home station between deployments — will grow from 12 months to 24 over the next three years.  For details, contact the POC at (703) 805-1012.
