Hometown News Program

The Army and Air Force Hometown News Service is a dual-service Field Operating Agency operating as a directorate of the Air Force News Agency (AFNEWS). Hometown News provides release about Army and Air Force personnel to media organizations in their hometowns.  The Hometown News Release Program is a commander's program for giving proper public news coverage of individual solder and civilian employee achievements and involvement in worthy activities.  The program provides a means to convey positive Army life to the public and to tell the Army story.

Read the instructions before completing the Hometown News Release Information form.  Once you have read it and the instruction on adding a digital image complete the DD Form 2266, print it using your printer, make sure all the information is correct, sign and date the form, scan it as a Pdf, save it with the individual's last name and then send it via e-mail message as an attachment.

Provide supporting information such as award citations or a biography for retirement and photographs.  Supporting information can be submitted electronically, too.  Text documents can  be scanned as a PDF and also saved with the individual's last name and then sent via an e-mail message as an attachment.
