Dear friend,

This week, we have a new Veterans History Project (VHP). Bernard Jezercak of Carrollton served in the Army in World War II as part of Merrill's Marauders, a special operations unit that conducted missions deep in enemy territory. In May, Mr. Jezercak stopped by my Irving office to receive medals he had earned but not yet received. Among the medals he earned were the Silver Star and Bronze Star. Below is an hour long video of Mr. Jezercak talking about his service to our country. If you know of any veteran in the 24th District who would like to share their story through a VHP, please let us know. In partnership with the Library of Congress, VHP's preserve and make accessible the stories of those who served our nation in combat.

24th District Town Hall in Farmers Branch
Thank you to everyone who came to my town hall this week! It was great to see so many familiar faces and take your questions about my work on your behalf in Washington.

Feature: Report finds widespread fraud in taxpayer ID program
A recent report released by the U.S. Treasury's Inspector General for Tax Administration reveals that the IRS may be intentionally ignoring fraudulent applications for Individual Tax identification Numbers and discouraging IRS employees from investigating fraudulent applications. As a member of the Ways and Means Oversight Subcommittee, I am deeply troubled by this report and expect we will take action soon to ensure this doesn't happen again. This week, Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Charles Boustany sent a letter to the IRS Commissioner demanding answers. You can read a news report here and the letter from Chairman Boustany to the IRS here.

It is an honor to represent you in Washington and I value your input. Please don't hesitate to contact one of my offices or e-mail me at www.marchant.house.gov.

Sincerely,

Congressman Kenny Marchant
