There’s a constant demand for current images of activities throughout the Department of Defense showing the department’s activities, exercises and operations. The pages here explain the procedures for sending images and the file and scanning standards as well as provide information to help imagery producers caption, transmit and view images.
Imagery producers should consider submitting their images for a number of reasons. Each month, the Defense Imagery Server is searched by tens of thousands of users and receives millions of hits each month as images are in great demand by all of the Services as well as from private sector commercial and media outlets. Every day, people use images from the Defense Imagery Server to brief the Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Your submissions will increase your unit's and installation's visibility at the OSD, JCS and Service level.
