Base Realignment and Closure #133 (BRAC)

Our Mission ...

Under the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Act, the WHS BRAC Program Office was formed to execute the Commission's Recommendation #133. This recommendation mandates the relocation of DoD components from leased space to Fort Belvoir, VA, by September 2011. The WHS/BRAC Program Office will serve as the coordinating agent for all BRAC #133 clients. The Office will be responsible for business plan development and review, budget administration, space requirement development, construction management oversight, and general movement coordination.

Our Vision

The WHS BRAC Program Office delivered a state-of-the-art facility to its client organizations on September 15, 2011, the final tenant moves are scheduled for September 2012.  In undertaking the BRAC 2005 effort, the WHS BRAC Program Office will fulfill a variety of goals established by the Secretary of Defense, including but not limited to: transform the current and future force and its support system to meet new threats, eliminate excess physical capacity, enhance force protection, increase efficiency and interoperability, reduce costs, and improve Joint capabilities. These new facilities will provide cutting edge technology so that DoD personnel can perform some of the nation's most critical missions to the best of their ability - in the safest and most secured environment.
