The Acquisition Directorate (AD), formerly known as the Acquisition & Procurement Office, is a Directorate within Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), a Department of Defense field activity.  AD plans, coordinates, and manages the procurement programs essential to the mission of WHS, ODA&M, and OSD.  The program encompasses Pentagon Renovation, construction, professional and other services, commodities and supplies, major communication and information technology systems, and special programs totaling over $900 million a year.

Our shared vision in WHS is to transform our organization into a creative, results-driven service provider recognized for excellence.  The WHS strategic plan challenges all of us to be actively involved in our organizational transformation.  AD is committed to WHS’ transformation goals.  Strong leadership, clear direction, and constant communication are keys to success.

AD has a critical and central role in helping WHS provide its customers outstanding services and timely results at reasonable costs.  We take an aggressive approach to enhancing customer service through innovation and creative contracting solutions.  We provide sound advice, new tools, and streamlined processes to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the WHS service delivery model.  We cannot achieve our goals without a capable, motivated, and professional workforce.  AD is committed to recruiting, developing, rewarding, and retaining high performing professionals.  We provide our community with the tools, training, authority and accountability that defines a professional workforce and drives organizational excellence.

Finally, we ensure AD achieves the results and meets the expectations WHS and the federal acquisition community have defined for us.  We enthusiastically embrace our stewardship responsibilities and optimize our policies, processes, tools, and metrics to achieve intended results.
