This paper examines data from the National Crime Victimization
Survey (NCVS) and the FBI's Supplementary Homicide Reports on
trends in violent crime by age in the United States. |
|
Abstract:
|
Murder and nonfatal violent crimes, as an aggregate, are examined
separately. Although violent crime in general declined during
1976-2000, patterns for different age groups sometimes depart
from overall trends. This report is one of a series on age
patterns and criminal victimization. Previous reports include "Age Patterns of Victims of Serious Violent Crime" and "Crimes
Against Persons Age 65 or Older." |
