Your TRICARE eligibility does not change when you move. But, certain things about your benefit may change once you move, such as your TRICARE plan.

Moving Made Easy for Active Duty Families
Moving is a way of life for active duty service members and their families. The "Moving Made Easy" option allows active duty service members and their families to transfer their Prime enrollment option to a new region with a simple phone call before they move, whether stateside or overseas.

Once you know you're moving, call your current (losing) contractor and give them information about your upcoming move. The losing contractor contacts your gaining contractor to begin the enrollment transfer, and your new contractor will contact you within five days of your arrival date to complete the process.

In most cases, using this option eliminates the need to submit a new enrollment form or visit a TRICARE Service Center. The process is completely automated and hassle-free. >>Learn more

The "Moving Made Easy" enrollment transfer option is only available to active duty families.

Key Things to Remember When you Move

Do not disenroll from any plan before you move so you are covered while traveling to your new location
Update your new address and phone number in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) when you get to your new location
If you are enrolled in TRICARE Prime and
- Move within the same TRICARE region: change your primary care manager
- Move to another TRICARE region: transfer enrollment to your new region
Active duty service members must enroll in a TRICARE Prime option (TRICARE Prime, TRICARE Prime Remote, TRICARE Prime Overseas, or TRICARE Prime Remote Overseas)
Family members must be command-sponsored to enroll in a TRICARE Prime option overseas
