Terminating Coverage

TRICARE Young Adult coverage may be terminated for a number of reasons, both voluntary or involuntary.

Voluntary Termination
You may choose terminate your coverage at any time. You must take the following actions to end your coverage:

1. Download the TRICARE Young Adult Application for your region. Click here to access the forms.
2. Complete the fields related to terminating coverage
3. Mail the application to Health Net at the address listed on the back of the form.

A one-year purchase lockout will apply if you voluntarily terminate your coverage, which means you will not be able to purchase TRICARE Young Adult coverage again for up to one year.

Nonpayment of Monthly Premiums
Your premium payment is due no later than the last day of the month for the next month's coverage. Failure to pay total premium amounts due and any insufficient fund fees owed will result in a termination of coverage. A one-year purchase lockout will apply if your coverage is terminated for nonpayment.

Change in Status
Your sponsor should keep all information updated in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System whenever there is a change in family or military status. TRICARE Young Adult coverage ends when any of the following occurs:

• You reach age 26
• You get married
• You become eligible for an employer-sponsored health plan (Note: The purchase lock-out will not apply in this scenario.)
• You gain other TRICARE coverage
• You lose eligibility because your sponsor ends TRICARE coverage or loses eligibility for TRICARE

Continued Health Care Benefit Program
When you are no longer eligible for TRICARE Young Adult, you may qualify to purchase the Continued Health Care Benefit Program.

You do not qualify for the Continued Health Care Benefit Program if you are locked out of TRICARE Young Adult due to non-payment or voluntary termination.
