Moving Made Easy for Active Duty Families

Moving is a way of life for active duty service members and their families.  To make it easier for you to transfer your Prime enrollment, we've launched the "Moving Made Easy" option which allows you to transfer your enrollment before you move with a simple phone call, whether stateside or overseas.

Once you know you'll be moving, you can easily transfer your enrollment by calling your current (losing) contractor and providing information about your upcoming move.

  • North: 1-877-874-2273
  • South: 1-800-444-5445
  • West: 1-888-874-9378
  • Overseas: Click here to find your country-specific toll-free number

To begin the enrollment transfer, the regional contractor will ask for:

  • Sponsor's name
  • Sponsor's Social Security Number
  • Sponsor's cellular phone number
  • Sponsor's e-mail address
  • The estimated date of your relocation (when you will be arriving at your new duty station)
  • Where you are moving, to determine the appropriate TRICARE Prime option

Note:  If there are any family members involved in the move, they will ask for their names and possible contact information, i.e. cell phone and/or e-mail of your spouse.

To complete the transfer process, the losing contractor shares your information with the gaining contractor. The gaining contractor will contact you within five business days of your anticipated arrival date to verify your date of arrival and discuss your different Prime enrollment options to include information on enrollment to the US Family Health Plan, if applicable, based on where you're moving. If during this first call, you know your arrival date changed, the gaining contractor will contact you at a later time (up to three more times) to confirm your information.

Effective Transfer Date
Your enrollment transfer is effective the day the gaining contractor contacts you and you agree to the enrollment transfer. When your gaining contractor contacts you, they may need additional information from you to complete the transfer process, such as a local address in the new region, primary care manager assignment based on military treatment facility commander guidance (if needed) or based on your address, which program options are available to you.

Once you agree to the enrollment transfer, the gaining contractor completes the transfer process. This could take up to four business days.  You will be covered by the losing contractor until the enrollment transfer is complete.

Other Enrollment Transfer Options
If you prefer, you have other options to transfer your enrollment:

  • Call your new regional contractor when you arrive in your new duty location to transfer your enrollment
  • Transfer your enrollment online via the Beneficiary Web Enrollment Website. There are some limitations to this option. >>Learn more.
